While many businesses have taken the digital route, there are more coming into the light.
The Federal Government has announced that it will swing fully into digitization of all processes within the civil service. Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation made it known to the public that this development across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies by 2025 would result in a significant reduction in the expenses associated with governance.
She shared that with the chance provided to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to secure sufficient budget allocations in the 2024 budget, there would be no justification for them not to enhance their efforts in digitalization by 2024.
Explaining further, she said that, to align with the specified 2025 deadline in the Federal Civil Service and Strategy and Implementation Plan (2021-2025), it is important to accomplish this objective.
Yemi-Esan disclosed this information during a retreat she attended on Wednesday, 20th December tagged "towards the digitalization of the public service by 2025."
Reportedly, Yemi said that the foundation of all FCSSIP25 pillars relies on digitalization, stressing that for the service to operate by these pillars, it must modernize its operational procedures. She, therefore, encouraged MDAs to utilize technology to advance the national objectives outlined in the current administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.
Also, she voiced disappointment over Nigeria's digitalization lag, noting that while 90% of governments globally have embraced digitalization and are currently implementing Artificial Intelligence solutions, Nigeria is trailing behind in this aspect.
While Yemi-Esan made her point clear, Adeniyi Dada, the Director, Information and Communication Technology buttressed it disclosing that the civil service is on track to achieve the 2025 objective.
