Flutterwave: Company Profile, Culture, and Overview

Flutterwave is a Nigerian fintech company that provides a digital payment process that enables individuals and businesses to enjoy seamless transactions within Africa and internationally. Headquartered in San Francisco, the company was founded in 2016 by Olugbenga Agboola alongside iyinoluwa Aboyeji and Adeleke Adekoya. The company says it intends to encourage people to build big businesses without any form of payment hassle.

Humble Beginnings

Although Flutterwave has not existed for too long, it started well. In 2021, the company raised about 170 million USD series C funding and it appeared to be the highest amount of money ever amassed by an African startup. In the same year, Flutterwave launched "Send", a service that allows Africans to remit or transfer money effortlessly. Fast forward to 2022, the company did another funding, a series D this time, and it earned a total of 250 million USD.
