How to Write a Travel Consultant Resume

Whether you are job hunting as a travel consultant or you already have a job, a resume is an essential document for you. A resume helps you to display your talent in one piece, highlighting your skills, strengths, and experience. Also, your resume is a ticket that can effortlessly land a travel consultant role or not. While you may have gotten away with having a regular and fairly acceptable resume, you can do better.

Who is a Travel Consultant?

A travel consultant is an expert who gives guidance and advice to individuals looking to go on a trip. They suggest destinations, book flights, and accommodations, and give ideas for recreation and every other relevant activity.

Responsibilities of a Travel Consultant

  • Help clients with planning and booking travel arrangements.

  • Research and suggest different travel options.

  • Answer questions about plans, destinations, and reservations.

  • Rectify issues that may arise during travels.

  • Book tickets and make hotel reservations.

  • Ensure that clients have all necessary documents to complete travel.

  • Ensure good communication and relationship with clients.

  • Be familiar with international travel requirements

Create your Travel Consultant resume

Your travel consultant resume should contain certain sections that will inform and communicate to your potential employer. These sections include the following:

Contact/Personal Information

This section should carry your name (in full), phone number, email address, and residential address. When your potential employer gets this information, they are aware of how to address you and where to reach you. However, you need to note the following:

  • Your name must be written in full

Not - Stephanie❌

Write - Stephanie Ibe or Ibe Stephanie ✅

  • Also, ensure that your email address does not display any form of unprofessionalism

Not - [email protected]

Write - [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected]✅

Professional Summary

Take the moment to reiterate what you do and who you are. Briefly mention your strengths, experience, and accomplishments in 3 - 4 lines. You can also chip in what you look forward to in your new role. Depending on your level of experience, you can say:

"I am a highly skilled and experienced travel consultant with a proven track record of providing clients with top-notch travel experiences. I have worked with hundreds of clients in the last 4 years and have provided them with ideas on travel products, services, and destinations."

You can also say:

"I am a budding travel consultant and I am thrilled to explore my passion, and at the same time, help people fulfill their travel dreams. With a deep background in hospitality, I have acquired the necessary skills to excel in this role."

NB: Be sure to maintain professionalism all through.
