ICAN Hires New Registrar/CEO

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has hired a new registrar/chief executive in person of Dr Musibau Olasunkanmi. This appointment was shared with the public on Friday, 2nd February after it was approved by the Governing Council of the institute.
Olasunkanmi wasn't just appointed to head the body of accountants. According to a statement, it was a deliberate, yet strategic appointment that put at the forefront, the values of the body - exceptional team leadership that would birth greatness within the body. Although Olasunkanmi has assumed the role of the CEO/Registrar, the current registrar will not retire until the 1st of March, 2024.
The Registarer elect, with over 16years of experience in different leadership positions in private and public organizations also has a Ph.D. in Forensic Accounting and Audit from the University of Charisma, UK, an M.sc in Accounting from Afe Babalola University, MBA in Accounting from the University of Lagos, B.sc in Accounting from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, and HND from the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti. Safe to say that the new registrar already has all it takes to do good work at ICAN.

According to ICAN Act. (Cap. 185.) the registrar is responsible for preparing and maintaining, “In accordance with rules made by the council, a register of the names, addresses and approved qualifications, and of such other particulars as may be specified in the rules, of all persons who are entitled in accordance with the provisions of this Act to be enrolled as fellows or as associates, or registered as registered accountants, and who, in the manner prescribed by such rules, apply to be so registered.”
