Job Title: Contract Lawyer

Location: Sangotedo Ajah, Lagos

Job Overview

  • The Contract Lawyer is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of legal contracts and agreements.
  • They ensure that all company contracts comply with legal standards, mitigate risks, and protect the organization's interests.
  • This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
Contract Drafting and Review:

  • Draft, review, and revise various contracts, including employment agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
  • Ensure that contracts are clear, legally sound, and aligned with company policies.

Negotiation:

  • Negotiate contract terms with internal and external stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Resolve contract-related disputes and provide legal counsel during negotiations.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential legal risks in contracts and propose strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Contract Administration:

  • Maintain an organized system of contract records and documentation.
  • Track contract deadlines, renewals, and obligations to ensure timely action.

Legal Advisory:

  • Provide legal advice to management and various departments regarding contractual obligations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of company policies related to contracts and legal compliance.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., finance, procurement, HR) to understand their contractual needs.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel when specialized expertise is required.

Qualifications and Skills
Education:

  • Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in contract law or a related legal field.
  • Experience in tech is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of contract law and legal terminology.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal documents and identify potential risks.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
