Summary

  • This position is responsible for the research activities of the Association as well as the management of the Research Department’s budget and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of the department.

Job description

  • Proactive in scanning the business/economic landscape and developing useful releases daily to support regular public releases/statements by the Association’s leadership.
  • Data-driven, capable of developing economic projections and analysis of government policies as they arise regularly.
  • Original in thought with depth in understanding business/economic situations and developments.
  • Oversee and monitor the departmental budget and program of work to ensure goals and objectives are met and efficient procedures are followed
  • Coordinate and supervise the research activities of the Association including the collection and management of statistical and economic information in all publications and collateral materials used in economic development efforts
  • Coordinate and supervise research activities including the development, implementation, and analyses of such projects as profile studies, economic impact studies, ongoing surveys, etc.
  • Coordinate and supervise the Association’s publication initiatives to attract sponsorships and external funding, where feasible
  • Coordinate and hold the Annual Economic Outlook Conference and publish the forecast book annually
  • Ensure production of the quarterly economic forecast as well as coordinate the composition, meeting, and activities of the Economic Outlook Board. This includes making certain that appropriate economic indicators are monitored regularly
  • Ensure that all business and economic development prospect inquiries, questionnaires, and proposals are completed in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Update the various databases, directories, and publications of the Association on an as-needed basis, including major directories, economic profiles, etc., and maintain data on the Association’s website as appropriate
  • Conduct at least one comprehensive membership survey for use in the Association’s annual program of work and strategic planning process.
  • Analyze membership trends and provide customized reports to support the retention, collection, and new member efforts of the membership department.
  • Manage the research, committee coordination, report production, and event planning for the Association as needs may arise.
  • Responsible for training and ensuring professional development of other research staff.
  • Responsible for other research or special projects as assigned by the Director-General or Presidency.

Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD degree in Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, or related fields from an excellent university with qualitative research capabilities and interest. Should have a minimum of 25 years postgraduate Research experience
  • Economic qualitative research experience strongly desired
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Excellent command of the English language, including comprehension, verbal and written communication skills
  • Good digital/IT skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate office equipment and necessary software programs inclusive of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Ability to attend meetings/functions at short notice during and after regular work hours
  • Ability to set up meetings, including digital presentation equipment.
