Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Position Overview
- We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our team.
- The ideal candidate will support the kitchen staff in preparing and delivering high-quality meals, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation:
- Assist chefs in basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Prepare simple dishes as instructed, such as salads or garnishes.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Wash, dry, and store kitchen utensils, dishes, and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including counters, floors, and storage areas.
- Dispose of waste and recycling properly and efficiently.
Stock Management:
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, checking for quality and accuracy.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the kitchen manager.
- Rotate stock to ensure the freshness of ingredients.
Compliance and Safety:
- Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper handling of food and kitchen equipment.
- Adhere to hygiene standards and wear appropriate protective clothing, such as gloves and aprons.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to management promptly.
Support Teamwork:
- Assist chefs and other kitchen staff during busy periods.
- Perform additional duties as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Qualifications
- SSCE / GCE / NECO qualification
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a hot, busy kitchen.
- Stamina to perform repetitive tasks efficiently.
