Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares legal documents, including summonses, complaints, and subpoenas.
  • Serves management by developing and monitoring cases and documentation.
  • HR support duties such as: preparing offer letters, termination letters & contracts for employees.
  • Managing internal cases and conducting legal research; preparing and reviewing legal documents on behalf of the company.
  • Researching and drafting legal opinions on various legal matters in corporate and commercial transactions.
  • Advocating on behalf of the organization in alternative dispute resolution, and private negotiation.
  • Operational Support and Legal advisory.
  • Ensuring the implementation of corporate governance principles in the organization and coordinating and scheduling Board and Board Committee meetings.
  • Maintaining all statutory books and registers of the company and monitoring all ongoing contracts on behalf of the company.
  • Provides administrative and secretarial support.
  • Develops cases by interviewing prospective clients and reviewing information.
  • Prepares status reports and keeps clients informed of case progress.
  • Gathers case evidence and documentation by preparing files and inputting information from records, statements, and other documentation.
  • Files records and logs incoming mail.
  • Alerts staff of issues requiring their attention.
  • Maintains contact with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Contributes information to the management during case reviews.
  • Concludes cases by verifying outstanding balances and preparing settlement documentation.
  • Updates professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Builds positive client relationships through effective communication, establishing trust, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Schedules meetings and depositions, answers phones, and maintains digital and physical records.


Requirements:

  • Technical skills, including the ability to work with databases and case management software

  • Ability to perform well under the pressure of multiple deadlines

  • BL (Barrister-at-Law) – Nigerian Law School
  • LLB (Bachelor of Law)
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience.
