Legal Secretary


Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Manage attorneys' calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments with clients and other stakeholders
  • Type, format, and proofread legal documents including contracts, briefs, and correspondence
  • Handle incoming calls and emails, routing them appropriately and responding to basic inquiries
  • Maintain an organized filing system for both physical and digital documents
  • Assist in the preparation of court documents and ensure timely filing
  • Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials
  • Manage office supplies and maintain office equipment
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and legal documents
  • Support case research and document retrieval as needed


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a legal secretary or similar role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
  • Familiarity with Nigerian legal systems and court procedures
  • Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Professional certification in legal secretarial studies is an advantage
