Job Title: Mooring Dolphin Operator
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Description
- The ideal candidates must possess in-depth knowledge, proficiency and experience in planning and coordinating mooring operations.
Job Functions
- Conduct a risk assessment of mooring operations and ensure mooring equipment are well maintained and fit for purpose
- Secure ship to any permanent structure such as ports, docks, piers or even floating buoys
- Plan and coordinate mooring operations to ensure they are done smoothly and safely
- Ensure Safe working practices are followed at every mooring operation
- Manage the preparation and packaging of cargo to be shipped in alignment with company procedures
- Prepare journey management plan for marine voyage
- Supervise the mooring operations of vessels, tug boats, barges and crew boats at jetties
- Responsible for ensuring safe mooring and that ships are anchored to a fixed or floating element and are kept connected during loading or unloading operations.
- Ensure all marine operations are carried out by safety standards at the jetty.
- Carry out routine checks on all marine equipment at the jetties to assure safety.
- Maintain a constant flow of information and reporting to the company, vessel management and relevant government regulatory agencies
- Assist in the planning, scheduling and delivering cargo and materials to meet operational requirements.
- Manage and supervise ship-to-ship transfers and export operations, as well as adhere to API MPMS references and ensure proper documentation and compliance with industry practice
Minimum Education, Experience and Required Skills
- B.Sc./HND in Marine Engineering or any marine-related certification
- Minimum of ten (10) years operational experience in mooring operation
- Basic Offshore Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) and Offshore Medical Certificate will be required
- Must have sound knowledge and understanding of mooring, ship procedures, and operations for safe mooring of floating buoys to withstand wind, the current, tide and waves.
- Must understand the workings of deck machinery and systems along with cargo operation equipment to ensure the safety of personnel and crew members.
- Must have undergone relevant Technical Course
- Must be suitably trained and experienced seaman Boatman/Linesman
- Must have relevant professional certificates
- Must have strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
- Must be result-oriented and committed to company goals
- Champion the enforcement of standards and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment
- Proficiency in IT, at least essential office software, is compulsory for all positions.
