For many fresh graduates, the complaint has been that many Nigerian Universities do not offer courses that would give them a better career after graduation. So, this set of people, even while studying for a different degree are also taking different courses that can help them to launch their tech career after school.
In line with this, the Nigerian University of Technology and Management (NUTM) has announced that students can now start applying for admission into degree programs in science, technology, management, and entrepreneurship.
According to the announcement made by the University, with the endorsement of the National Universities Commission, NUTM will initially provide undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Information Technology.
"With the approval of the National Universities Commission, NUTM will initially offer bachelor’s degrees spanning Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Information Technology. The forward-thinking curriculum features computing, entrepreneurship capstones, professional skills development, and industry experience," the announcement reads.
“NUTM pairs an Ivy League-caliber faculty with a world-class curriculum focused on advancing technology education in Nigeria. Students will benefit from partnerships with top institutions like Oxford University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras,” the statement read further.
The Nigerian University of Technology and Management will be the first technology and management university in Nigeria, according to the Academic Director of the university and he said that the plan is to paint a new picture for African innovations.
Also, NUTM says its goal is to produce 5,000 STEM leaders by 2030 and also be ranked as a top 50 global institution in STEM Education.
Who can apply to Nigerian University of Technology and Management?
To be eligible for admission, NUTM requires that:
Should have scored 180 and above in UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Applicants should have completed secondary education with a minimum of five (5) O’ Level/equivalent credits in English, Mathematics, and Physics, in one sitting.

How much does it cost to be a student at NUMT?
At the University of Technology and Management, Lagos, Nigeria, you will be required to pay at least 2 Million per academic year. Also, accommodations are available on campus for N500,000 per academic year.
