Transportation Company Bolt Layoff some Of Its Nigerian Staff Despite Promising Employment in Africa

One of the working and fast-growing transportation companies, Bolt has decided to lay off some of its workers in Nigeria despite promising to increase employment and different investment opportunities. The company is said to have sacked 17 out of its 70 staff in Nigeria. The affected persons expressed displeasure because the company had reassured them of their job security.

The words from Bolt addressing the layoff

The Regional Manager announced the words addressing the layoff for West Africa North Africa of the transportation company Bolt. Ire Obatoki said the layoff resulted from some operational adjustments to increase a better performance within the company.

"Bolt had to terminate work contracts with 17 of its employees in Nigeria due to an initiated strategy to improve our operational processes. This was certainly not an easy decision to make, and we completely understand the frustration of the affected employees," she said.

The transportation company also noted that they have some things to offer the affected people.

"We offered the affected employees an additional three months of health insurance and three months of access to psychological support and a career coach to help them navigate the transition to new employment opportunities."

Reactions from the Affected Staff

The affected Staff were unhappy with the layoff because the company had already promised them their job security, stating there would be no layoff. They were persuaded that the company's management would only be restructuring, forming new teams, and rearranging personnel.

They let out their disappointment from the meeting, which they thought would be an announcement on the new teams, and the restructuring, not knowing it would be a meeting to notify them that they were being laid off.

Finally on Bolt

The affected people are said to have received the severance package based on the time they worked for Bolt. The Staff who have worked with the company for a year will receive their one-month severance.

Those working with the transportation company for two years will receive their two-month severance, and those who have worked with the company for half a year also receive half their monthly wages.

Bolt has also entered the list of the companies that have laid off its Staff, despite their promise to avoid taking such a decision. This is why the affected Staff were sad about the step taken by the transportation company.
