Tips For Being More Productive At Work
Have A Morning Routine And Follow It Religiously
You can decide that you should always go for your hardest task of the day first if that works for you. However, it may not work for others hence knowing what works for you can guide you in creating the morning routine.
Your Morning routine could be like this:
- Make a cup of coffee
- Sit down at your desk
- Open your to-do list app and set your intention by deciding which task to focus on first (maybe even tell your colleagues what you plan to do to create some accountability)
- Mark that task as a high priority
- Gather the tools you need to start the task
The most important thing here is to have a work routine you follow strictly. You could choose to begin your day with something simple and pleasurable or vice Versa.
Apply The Pomodoro Technique
This is a working method that enables people to overcome a lack of motivation. It gets its name from old kitchen timers shaped like tomatoes. Pomodoro means tomato in Italian. The old kitchen timer was devised by Francesco Cirillo. The technique entails that you set a timer for 25 minutes and work on your task until the timer goes off. The timer is then reset for five minutes, and you take a little rest. You go through the cycle a few times before taking a longer break. When you can't seem to get started on a task, try committing to it for just 25 minutes to see if you are able to pull it through. You can use the Strict Workflow Google chrome extension to achieve this.
Dump Any Productivity Tip Or Idea That Doesn't Work For You
There are different types of people. Nobody knows how similar or dissimilar they are to another individual. Where we find motivation, what helps us stay focused, what demotivates us, and how we recharge are all unique to each of us. We can go to science to determine what types of productivity advice or suggestions work for the majority of people, but we won't know what works for us unless we try them.
With that in mind, discard any productivity strategies that don't work for you. Give them a shot, but if they don't fit your personality, dump them. There are numerous productivity hacks and tactics available. Don't feel like you've failed if some things don't work out. Concentrate on the ones who do.
